Control live agents
Guide agents during work and distinguish activity from an open session.
Send guidance
Open an agent from the board. Write a message in its conversation; inspect whether it was queued, delivered, or consumed. Delivery means the runner acknowledged the message, not that the agent completed the requested work.
Interrupt or stop
Open Details & controls in the agent conversation to reveal its runtime controls.
| Control | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Interrupt | Interrupt the current turn so you can redirect the agent. |
| Soft stop · ~5K | Ask for a quick wrap-up, summary, and appropriate handoff, then stop. |
| Hard stop | Stop the process without another wrap-up turn, including managed descendants. |
| Stop team | Stop all running team agents and retain their history. |
Soft stop observes approximately 5,000 additional output tokens, completion of the wrap-up turn, or five minutes. Delayed usage reports can overshoot the estimate.
Read the state accurately
An open idle session is not actively working. A disconnected runner means status is unknown, not definitely stopped. Live omits stopped and planned agents; Structure retains the complete design.
Managed subagents
Agents may use spawn_agent, send_agent_message, and team_status. Managed children inherit the parent's folder, runtime/model, and permissions. Their parent relationship and current session appear in Live.
The runtime bounds a project to 64 agents and four child levels. Native CLI delegation and arbitrary detached processes are not managed children. Restarting a project restores the saved team design; prior child events remain evidence.
